Due to its advantages over upright type shocks, inverted monotube shocks are now found on high performance factory cars like Porsche 911, BMW M-series, Mitsubishi Evolution, Subaru STi, etc.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]“So what is inverted technology and its advantages?”
Inverted technology is mainly found on McPherson type suspension, where the struts are load bearing and act as a suspension arm. If the strut is not strong enough, it can have an adverse effect on car control and worst case, lead to a failure!
This illustration shows the difference between the two types and how McPherson suspension works.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_blank” image=”5793″ img_link_large=”yes” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” image=”5794″ img_size=”large” img_link_large=”yes”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]“How about use a thicker shaft rod in the upright monotube dampers?”
This sounds like the ideal solution for the upright type dampers to address the issue but it is not that simple.
As the shaft rod compresses, it displaces the oil, compressing the gas chamber. If a thicker rod is used, the amount of displacement increases thus creating a high repulsive force, acting against the piston. This leads to a harsh ride quality and inconsistent performance.
Another issue is that, thicker rod will decrease the amount of oil capacity in the damper, which is one of the advantages of monotube damper.

One of the best handling coupes on the market is the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ. The front suspension is a McPherson design, like many cars on the market. The stock shocks are twintube utilizing a 22mm strut shaft.
Most of the competitor’s monotube dampers are upright type utilizing a 20mm strut shaft, as illustrated in the photo.
All STANCE dampers utilize 45mm~52mm(depending on application) strut shaft.
STANCE USA believes in offering our customers the best value and performance, offering inverted technology on all of our applications (McPherson vehicles).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” image=”5795″ img_size=”large” img_link_large=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”5796″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
